Christian Siriano‘s show is one of the hottest tickets in town during fashion week. The Project Runway alum and uber talented designer draws in crowds of celebrities and top-notch fashion magazine editors each year. Out of all the Project Runway contestants Christian is among the top 5 of designers on the show that actually designs clothes that real everyday women would want to wear. I think it’s one of the reasons he is arguably the most successful of the winners.
When it comes to whimsical glamour, Christian has it down pat. His 2012 fall collection was just that. Inspired by the movie vampire bat Christian brought out his dark side and married it with light and feminine fabrics. We all know Siriano’s as the bigger is better type of designer but this time around Siriano went for curve skimming silhouettes in deep dark rich hues. He created a collection that was edgy, dashing, and ultra feminine. Models strutted down the runways in white leather biker jackets, floor length sheer skirts, and elegant tiered gowns in deep berry and bright whites. This collection could’ve easily been dubbed How A New York socialite dresses. Everything about his fall collection was sharp and no-nonsense. He added feminine printed blouses and pants and he even offered up a few furry pieces like a gray fur stole and vest.
For those of us who like to look equally as chic at the office as we do while out on the town at night, Christian had you covered with hip hugging pencil skirts paired with sheer blouses and structured shift dresses. This was one of those collections where you wanted one of everything. It looks like Christian has blossomed into a lifestyle brand and the fall 2012 collection solidified it. There were pieces that took you from the office to cocktails and gowns that were stunning enough to wear to the Met Gala. The color palette of black, white, silver, berry, and gold served as a complimentary backdrop to the vampire inspired collection.
